The Top Ten Key Points To Get Your First Permanent Job With 7 East Crew Consultancy:

1. Please ensure that your CV is in English and is aimed towards the positions that you are looking for.

2. CV’s should be kept short (1-2 pages) and come complete with a recent passport photo.

3. Remember - be prepared and do your own research with regards to the super yacht industry.

4. Send us your CV, with any job references and any certificates.

5. If you have done any special courses, that are relevant to your future job, indicate these and send to us any certificates you may have.

6. If you have a college trained practical skill; inform us and send us any certificates you may have.

The Deckhand's Role:

As a deckhand you are responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the exterior of the yacht.

You would look after and maintain everything on the outside from the top to the bottom of the vessel such as; painting (awlgrip), stripping, varnishing, assist in cleaning engines.

You would also maintain the various water toys aboard; jet skis, sea bobs, tenders, sailing dinghies, etc.

Sometimes on the smaller yachts you would be expected to assist with interior cleaning and service when guests are aboard.


Certifications:

STCW Safety Courses Basic.

Medical Certificate ENG1 or equivalent of.


What makes a good Deckhand?

Transferable skills; plumbing, electrical, IT.

Has proven job longevity, a big plus point.

Experience or/and training in watersports.

Good attitude & work ethics.

Willing to learn and take orders from others.

Work's well under pressure.

Is a good team player.

Has a professional appearance.

The Steward/ess's Role:

As a steward/ess you are responsible for the cleanliness of the interior.

The first thing to understand that cleaning will represent a major part of your daily routine; the service side to owners and guests is a small part of the job as a junior Steward/ess.

When you are dealing with owners and guests, a good personality and a nice smile are really important to have.

On the smaller yachts, you maybe expected to assist on deck especially when the boat is arriving or leaving a port, such as handling fenders and lines (ropes).


Certifications:

STCW Safety Courses Basic.

Medical Certificate ENG1 or equivalent of.


What makes a good Steward/ess?

Has a kind & caring personality towards others.

Nanning or teaching experience of children an advantage.

Transferable skills such as a Personal Trainer, Hairdresser, Massage Therapist etc......

Has a great smile.

Have a good attention to details.

Has proven job longevity, a big plus point.

Good attitude & work ethics.

Willing to learn and take orders from others.

Work well under pressure.

Is a good team player.

Has a professional appearance.
